Château Tanunda Grand Barossa Year Of The Horse Shiraz from the Barossa Valley opens with enticing aromas of blackberry compote, dark plum, chocolate truffle, and warm cinnamon with hints of vanilla and sweet tobacco. Dry and full-bodied with velvety tannins, it flows across the palate with opulent dark fruit and closes with a long, spiced finish. Serve it slightly below room temperature or cellar it through 2035. Neville Rowe, chief winemaker and one of Drinks Business Magazine UK's "Top 100 Master Winemakers," crafts this limited reserve bottling with over a year of barrel maturation in French oak at the historic estate established in 1890 as Australia's first true winemaking Château, which became the largest building in the Southern Hemisphere when completed and remains more spacious than South Australia's Parliament House in Adelaide. Pair this powerful Shiraz with slow-braised lamb shanks where the wine's rich fruit complements the tender, fall-off-the-bone meat, or enjoy it with herb-crusted beef tenderloin as the velvety tannins enhance the savory, charred flavors.

Shiraz food pairings: slow-braised lamb shanks, herb-crusted beef tenderloin, aged Parmesan cheese.
