Reviews and Ratings

Trevor Sabourin - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This is a very well balanced, integrated, and expressive wine from Cahors, the classic French region for Malbec. The nose shows quite a bit of development and lots of complexity, with aromas of blackberry, dark-skinned plums, dried cherries, violet, cedar, eucalyptus, anise, graphite, cocoa, and touches of leather, tobacco, forest floor, and smoke. The palate offers a seeming contradiction of juicy and dried black fruits, along with the herbal, floral, and savoury notes repeating, and a background hint of oak manifesting as clove and cocoa. The wine finishes long with dried black fruit, anise, cocoa, and cedar. The intensity is not super high, but this wine has a lot of finesse. The acidity is juicy, and the substantial tannins are smooth and integrated. This wine is probably drinking at it's peak right now, though it could be cellared for 2-3 years if you would like to trade some of the fruit for more savouriness. Tasted Oct. 2016.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
