Gorgeous layers of voluptuously rich fleshy cherry-berry fruit. The nose is so aromatic, it'll draw you head-first into the glass. Rich and textured, this is amazing quality for this price point. I like the mouth-watering acidity for a wide range of dishes from smoked salmon to roast chicken. There's more cherry fruit on the finish along with a touch of smoke and spice.

Pinot Noir food pairings: beef bourguignon, coq au vin, frittata, steak and mushroom kebabs.

Champy is the oldest négociant-éleveur in Burgundy. A layered and intricate nose that offers sour cherry, boysenberry and underbrush accented by a delicate vanilla-extract note and a wisp of tobacco. Sunny and ripe, this is a very approachable red Burgundy that comfortably wears its classic elegance. Tangy cherry on the finish. Drink till 2017. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, May 2013
