Caythorpe Family Estate Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough is a zesty, light to medium-bodied white offering aromas of ripe white nectarine, tangy citrus zest, and hints of crushed gravel. It's bone dry with vibrant acidity and saline minerality. Serve it well chilled with pan-seared scallops as the wine's crisp brightness and mineral backbone will enhance the seafood's delicate sweetness beautifully, or pair it with goat cheese salad where the wine's refreshing character and tropical notes will complement the tangy cheese perfectly. Winemaker Jeremy McKenzie, formerly of Isabel Estate, crafts this wine for the fifth-generation Bishell family who have farmed the estate since 1876 when David Bishell arrived from Caythorpe in Lincolnshire and established the property west of Blenheim. The family first planted grapes in 1987 after neighboring Montana purchased nearby land and created the commercial Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc phenomenon, and Caythorpe launched its own wine label in 2015, immediately earning a Gold Medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition with only their second vintage. Enjoy now or cellar for 1-3 years.

Sauvignon Blanc food pairings: pan-seared scallops, goat cheese salad with herbs, grilled white fish.

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
