At over 1,100 metres on the Adrianna and Domingo vineyards at the foot of the Andes, the tension between intense Andean heat and the cold of altitude produces the kind of freshness and depth in Chardonnay that only high-altitude Mendoza can deliver, and the Catena Alta Historic Rows captures that tension fully. Dried apricot, salted lemon, chamomile, and toasted hazelnut open the nose before a layered, slightly fleshy palate of lemon curd and green apple delivers a long focused finish with bright food-friendly acidity. Nicolas Catena Zapata pioneered Argentina's fine wine revolution, and his daughter Laura continues pushing the limits of high-altitude viticulture. Drink it now through 2026 with roast chicken, juicy pork chops, or pan-fried halibut in lemon butter.

Chardonnay food pairings: roast chicken, juicy pork chops from the grill, pan-fried halibut steaks in lemon butter.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
