Karrie rated this wine as 100/100 with the following review: Delicious.
Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 84/100 with the following review: Ruby/purple with sweet plummy, cherry fruit, floral and spice notes. Medium full body and quite sweet on the palate with prune and sour cherry along with chocolate/mocha. Too sweet for my palate to drink on its own, this could work along side pork back ribs with a spicy rub and BBQ sauce.
Alex & Priya - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 50/100 with the following review: P: Hmm this is a tough one because I have nothing good to say about this wine. Oh wait, I do have one good thing to say—it has a gorgeous deep blood red color. It smells a wee bit like faded mushrooms but other than that all I get is the smell of pomegranate juice, which is what this tastes like. A: We’re on the exact same page. I too think it smells like pomegranate juice, albeit with hints of maraschino cherries, plastic and other unknown, heinous chemicals. It is indeed the color of blood, which it could be since it certainly isn’t wine. P: Agreed! It twinged my cheeks as soon as I took a sip and with every sip thereafter. I could swear it gave me a headache after half a glass. I understand why it appeals to the masses though, seeing as it’s super fruity and tastes just like it smells, like spiked pomegranate juice. It does not taste like wine. At all. There is no suggestion of anything from nature being in this bottle. Probably the worst ‘wine’ I’ve ever tasted. A: We’re in harmony my lady! On the taste (as I can’t call it ‘palate’) this is just sweet, fake juice. Having read other reviews I expected it to be a bit better. What’s worse than the taste is what this wine is doing to the wine world. I spoke with the Newfoundlad liquor board and because this is the #1 selling wine by a long shot, they’re cutting back on their old world imports. To me this is a travesty. That a frankengrape such as this would push out the family-owned, organically-grown vineyards where the grapes are grown with love and respect. Say it ain’t so.
