Sean O'Regan rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

April 6, 2014: Deep ruby/garnet with a maturing nose of ripe red/blue fruit, oak spice, chocolate, earthy, dusty minerality and a white pepper/sulphite that dissipates after about 30 min. This wine is round and richly textured, good concentration, savoury along with dark cherry, plum/prune, raspberry and chocolate notes. Tannins are well integrated and balanced with fruit and acidity. This is medium full bodied with a long finish that has a bit of tartness to the acidity. This should have a broad appeal and work with many dishes. I'd suggest to drink now and over the next 2-3 years with roast chicken, herbed beef roast or sausage.
Andrew Bernardo rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Black cherry, forest floor, fruit decay (strong on the nose off the bat), marshmallow root, nice minerality: iron moving to blueberry. Spicy wood perhaps (mesquite applewood?) 90 Points. (ottawawinejournal.com)
Travis Oke rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Had this wine as our starter with Paella made by my visiting brother in Spain. Bright tasting tempranillo with complex layers for this price point. Lengthy finish

Natalie's Review

Lealtanza Reserva Selección Bodegas Altanza 2004, D.O.C.A., Rioja, Spain: Awesome! Savoury with leather, violets and hedonistic happiness. Lovely vibrancy yet it also has a wonderful maturity to it. Perfect to celebrate great moments in life, like opening this bottle. How can it be priced so low? Drink: 2011-2016. 208223 13.50% D 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 92/100. March 19, 2011  Full Review

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
