The deep purple colour of this Grenache and Carignan blend is mirrored in the cooked plum flavours of the wine. But the earthy mushroom notes and cocoa powder tannins take it to the next level. The llicorella terroir of the Priorat is well represented with notes of slate and prove the region is deserving of the DOCa status. A status it only shares with one other region in Spain; the Rioja. A great pairing with eggplant fritters.

This blend of garnacha, carignan with just splashes of cabernet sauvignon and syrah brought back memories of standing on the steep slopes of the Priorat vineyards it came from. Eight years of aging mellowed out the red fruit to allow the more earthy overtones of mushrooms to show through. Paired with a classic veal osso bucco with truffled polenta for a decadent old world treat.
