Yum. This is a lovely Amarone, packed with aromas of raisin, prune, leather and spices - kind of port-like on the nose. More red berry and spices on the palate. A bit hot due to the high alcohol. Would love to enjoy this with some dark chocolate.

Medium ruby with browning towards the rim, this Amarone has aromas of cooked frtui with some sherry-like aspects. Fruit flavours are tiring, with rounded
tannins. The finish is short. Disappointing for this reviewer.

This Amarone has an incredibly rich nose of cooked, dried fruit with spice, nuttiness and oxidation. Wow! The flavours are equally complex with dried fruit, spice nuts and heavy helping of alcohol (15.5%). This is a relatively inexpensive Amarone, that is well-balanced and delicious.

Oct 5, 2014: Deep garnet, raisined nose with oxidative notes, nutty, dates, leather, dark chocolate and baking spice. Flavour replays from the nose on the palate, savoury though the fruit seems a little dried out amoungst ample alcohol. Full body, acidity is good, the tannins seem resolved, though the balance seems off lacking fruit depth - I would tend to drink this earlier than hold. Try after dinner with a piece of bitter dark chocolate.

Appassimento wines are some of my favourites as they display such rich and complex aromatic and flavour profiles. By allowing the grapes to dry (raisinate) for a period of time after picking, the grapes that are used for Amarone wines develop incredibly sweet dried fruit aromas with complex dry flavour profiles. This Amarone is no exception to the rule. Full of dried fruits (raisin, plum, fig), fresh dark berries, dark chocolate, with a touch of bacon and leather. Full bodied, luscious, rich, and refreshing. It's no wonder the world has such a love affair with this style of wine, and this is a nice Amarone. Note that I can't recall ever having a 'bad' Amarone. Enjoy on its own or pair with a wide array of dishes from rich pastas, strong firm cheese, stews or my favourite, ossobuco.

Rich aromas of dark raisin, stewed dark fruit and figs. Rounded palate showing figs, prunes, raisins and stewed fruit and a touch of mocha. Almost like port or a suggestion of cognac. Rich and satisfying dried dark fruit finish. A great gift wine or one for the fall evenings by the fireplace.

the wine is elegant, medium-bodied and long.

Pair it with red meats!

Plenty of depth to this wine, with up front aromas of rains, figs, and sherry. TThere are also smaller amounts of dried herbs, plums, and old leather. The taste has more of a fruit profile with ripe plum and black cherry, but the overall impression is still the dried fruit and herbs. There' a silky mouth-feel and a long dried herb finish. There's really no need for food with a wine like this.

A deep brick red in colour.

Wow! where to begin, it has a unique delivery on the nose. There are rich cooked fruits and leafy green tones. Dried raisins, cranberries, plums and figs.
This wine makes you think of crisp winter days, snuggled up infront of a fire with cheeses, pates and dark chocolate.
On the palate this is almost like a porto, plums, cranberries, figs, an orange cointreau energy as an undertone. there is a velvety vanilla coating as the wine carresses your tongue. A curious eucalyptus tree note. Spice of nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves. Incredible velvety tannins. A great dry finish.

This amarone has the distinctive dried fruit aromas consistent with the winemaking process. I could also detect violets, herbs, leather, dried meats, and spices. The flavours are dried or stewed prunes, figs and raisins, and leather. Arak one is a wonderful wine to drink on it's own or pair with hard, strong cheeses, veal dishes, or charcuterie.

Dried prunes, cherries, figs and dates with leathery-nutmeg-and-cinnamon spiciness on the nose.
Mouth-coating richness with all of the above flavours mentioned showing through on the palate, full bodied with integrated tannins and a lingering cinnamon-nutmeg finish.

A heavy hitter that needs some Balderson 5 year aged cheddar to accompany its richness.

Once you pop the cork on this bottle you can instantly smell nutty aromas similar to a port. Investigate closer and aromas of dried fruits, and fruit cake come through.

Flavours of cherry, raisin, strawberries. A smooth and delightful wine to sip by the fire.

The bouquet alone will take your breath away, with layers of rose petal, black licorice and wild strawberry. The pleasure continues as the palate unfolds with flavours of rich blackberry, mocha and nutmeg. Delightful alongside a slice of aged cheddar. Enjoy now through 2024. Tasted Oct 2014.
