Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This 80/20 Syrah/Cab Sauv blend is medium-weight and easy-going. The nose has enticin violets, plum and spice. The plum carries over to the palate, which is smooth and approachable. Tannins are soft and smooth, only adding some weight and texture since there was no oak used in the maturation. Enjoy with patio fare, charcuterie or on its own. Tasted 30 April 2026. Natalie's Review

Francois Lurton Domaine De Nizas Mazet De Nizas Rouge 2023, Languedoc Roussillon, France: François Lurton Domaine de Nizas Mazet de Nizas Rouge 2023 is a bold and expressive red from the sun-baked terroir of the Languedoc, crafted from a blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvèdre. The nose is generous and inviting, with dark plum, blackberry, roasted herbs, and a hint of cracked black pepper that speaks directly to the wild scrubland surrounding the estate. On the palate it is full bodied and warmly structured, with ripe, rounded tannins, layers of dark fruit, and an earthy, garrigue-tinged complexity that deepens toward a long, spiced finish. It is a wine that captures the heat and personality of southern France with confidence and polish. Fascinating fact: The Grenache Noir grape, central to many Languedoc reds, is believed to have originated in the Aragon region of Spain before spreading across the Mediterranean, making it one of the most widely planted red grape varieties in the world. This wine shows best at 16 to 18°C, served in a large Bordeaux or Syrah glass that allows the dark fruit and spice to fully express themselves. Drink: 2026-2027. 14% D 750 mL  $12.00.
