Deborah Podurgiel WSET IV Candidate rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

Fort Berens Estate Winery Small Lot Grüner Veltliner 2024 is bright, zesty and super expressive! Super fresh with aromas of lime, melon, kiwi, roasted nuts, white pepper and a titch of toasty oak flavours on the palate, this is a beautifully rounded, silky Grüner with a brilliantly long finish.

I have to say, since the first harvest of the winery's small lot GV (about three or so years ago), it just keeps getting better and better!

Grapes for the 2024 vintage were sourced from the winery's Red Rock Vineyard. "This Small Lot wine was handcrafted from a very small batch of hand-picked estate grown grapes from a select block in our Red Rock Vineyard. Grapes were whole-cluster pressed and naturally fermented in neutral French oak barrels with four months of lees contact giving lovely aromatics and a great mouthfeel. This wine pairs perfectly with fresh oysters, Greek salad, or even freshly baked Bannock."

Tasted January 2026. Chill and enjoy it through 2027.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
