Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous Lunar New Year. The Year of the Snake promises wisdom, refinement and transformation, and the Limited-Edition Haywire Lunar Red (2022) embodies these qualities. On the palate, it is dry, juicy, medium-bodied and fresh with ripe red berry, bright cherry, light garden herbs, subtle spicy notes all balanced with bright acidity and framed with cocoa-textured, velvety tannins. Produced from Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes sourced from the winery’s Summerland vineyards in British Columbia, I think it's their best one yet since the winery started the Lunar New Year wine series the in 2014. Absolutely a perfect pairing with a winter vegetable, mushroom and chestnut galette! Tasted January 2025.
