Ghislain Lalonde reviewed this wine as follows:

FBF, DL92(5), Cadeau de K&J. Fontanafredda is the largest volume producer of Barolo, but hardly a giant on the world stage. I have always found them to be diligent purveyors of one of Italy's most famous wines. This 'basic' Barolo delivers all the right complexities - and aromatic complexity is what I prize most in Barolo. Expect a lovely melange of fresh and cooked red cherry, red currant, fresh and dried herbs, stems and shrubs, with room for florals and earth notes. It is medium bodied, firm yet not austere, with starchy tannin. The length is excellent. I actually enjoyed this wine with a herb roasted lamb, but it will certainly age nicely through the decade. Scoring on acuity and complexity. Tasted November 2023
Jennifer Havers rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Fontanafredda always shows great value in their wines, and this is a lovely Barolo that is approachable and ready to enjoy, even at 4 young years old. Aromas of tart cherry and a touch of strawberry, along with hints of earth, leather, and dried spices. Medium bodied with light, but grippy tannins and vibrant acidiity, all while still quite smooth and supple on the palate. Berry notes are bright and fresh, with some earthy and leather hints on the finish. Enjoy with hard cheeses and charcuterie.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
