From a challenging vintage with extreme heat (the infamous 2021 heat dome), resulting in 10-50 per cent lower crop levels, depending on location, as 'the dome' struck just as berries were setting and bunches were swelling, thereby shutting down their growth. And, of course, what has become a fact more than anomaly - smoke from wildfires. Although Township 7's Fool's Gold Vineyard, from where the grapes for this vintage were sourced, was spared.

Produced from 100% Viognier grapes fermented in stainless steel tank, with a portion of the wine sent to oak barrels to add texture and roundness to the wine. The 2021 Township 7 Vineyard & Winery’s Benchmark Series Viognier is fragrant with white florals, orange blossom, ripe peach, lime leaf and chalky mineral notes with a lithe and lingering lemon meringue finish zesty on the palate. Nicely balanced. Drink or hold this pretty Viognier that will continue to evolve in bottle to 2025. Tasted November 2023.
