Medium bodied, balanced, dark fruits well integrated, nice lingering finish. Great value. Served with roast chicken

MBF, DL91(5), NM92, This is a ripe, smooth and ready Rioja offering very good complexity and depth for the money. It is in a traditional style with flavours in the pruny, dried cran-cherry fruit realm, along with American oak vanillin, wood resin and cigar. It is medium full bodied, quite dense and very smooth with fine tannin. Lovely texture. Excellent length as well. You have to like the mature flavours (I do) but if you are not sure this an affordable exploration. Now to 2028. Tasted April 2023

Muriel Reserva 2017, Rioja D.O.C.A., Spain: Muriel Reserva 2017 Tempranillo is so smooth and flavourful with ripe blueberry, blackberry, dark plum, dried tobacco leaf, sous bois and rich cocoa flavours on the palate. Tannins are rich and long. Produced from 100% Tempranillo and amazing value for $20. Drink or hold. Drink: 2023-2031. 276030 13.50% XD 750 mL $19.95 Score: 92/100.
