Blue Grouse Estate Winery has been doing amazing things in wine over the past 10 years, like their Quill 2021 Gamay Noir rosé. A brilliant deep fuchsia in the glass, with pronounced aromas of ripe strawberry, dark cherry, watermelon, earthy violets, fresh mushroom and fresh loamy earth, this is a vegan-friendly rosé, both muscular and elegant with more of a come-hither-and-try-some-more-of-me rosé. Which I did. Just dry, medium-plus-bodied (yes, an almost full-bodied Gamay Noir rosé) and zesty with medium-plus acidity and flavours of dark cherry, ripe red berry, red currant, earthy, flinty mineral and blood orange citrus zest lingering long on the palate. Did it go with rosemary garlic lamb chops from the grill? You bet! Tasted July 2022.
