Kerner is a crossing of Riesling and Trollinger. The grapes for this aromatic white wine came from 2 distinct vineyards in the Okanagan Valley; the wine is smooth, semi sweet, with a luscious mouth feel, very pale with pronounced aromas of tropical fruit and low acidity. The palate features rich flavours of peach, lemon, grapefruit, and pear. this hit the spot for my guest who prefers semi -sweet Riesling; she called it very lush and plush and loved it with blue cheese.

Very pretty and fragrant. Aromas of melon, peach, and pear, with hints of almond and lemon zest. Medium-dry, with enough sweetness to stand up to some spice, but with a nice amount of acidity for balance. Fruit on the palate is rich and rounded, with a niec long finish showing a touch of minerality. As mentioned, enjoy with any spicy dishes, maybe a spicy Thai shrimp curry.

The 2020 Gray Monk Kerner is an aromatic, off dry, fruity white wine from British Columbia, Canada’s Okanagan Valley appellation.

It would be an understatement to describe this creation’s scents as pronounced. They are massive. They leap out of my glass in layers brimming with sweet pear, tart grapefruit, lemon zest and juicy peach. These notes define the flavour profile, too.

Medium bodied and low alcohol (just above 10%), this Kerner feels mouthcoating with lively acidity. Kerner is a grape varietal of German origin. I’d serve this as an aperitif and with grilled fish.

A traditional sweet wine, originating from Germany and so wonderful that BC’s Gray Monk winery grows this varietal.
Heady aromas of pear, starfruit, sea air and almonds carry through to a tropical palate with a lingering honey finish.
Medium bodied and semi-sweet, pairs perfectly with spicier dishes.
Also a perfect pairing with Quiche! Brunch wine anyone?

A treat on the nose with aromas of cantaloupe, white peach, jasmine, honey, almonds, apricot, saline and mineral notes.

Medium bodied on the palate with some residual sugar, fresh acidity, and notes of tart apple, baked peach, clementine, apricot, honey and almond.

I'd like to try this one with a platter of soft cheeses, nuts, and fresh fruit.

Gray Monk Winery, located in the Okanagan Valley, offers a variety of delicious wines. The Kerner 2020, named after its uncommon grape, is definitely worth a try. The wine reveals aromas of green pear, green mango, lime, apple blossom and saline, sure to make you salivate for the first sip. A light body, with a long and sweet finish, make this wine a perfect evening sipper. Palate: Mango, starfruit, lime, honeysuckle and brine. Enjoy!
