Masi Toar Valpolicella Classico Superiore 2016, Veneto D.O.C., Italy: Masi Toar 2016 Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a medium-plus-bodied traditional Valpolicella red wine blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta wine grapes. Oseleta is a native Veronese secondary grape variety known for its great ability to colour and give structure to the wine. Rediscovered by Masi in the 1980s, it was first used in the Veronese blend in 1990, giving birth to Toar which is in reference to the volcanic soils in which the vines are planted. Rich with black cherry, red berry, smoky grilled herbs, pepper and anise spice flavours well-balanced and full on the palate. This vintage was awarded 2 out of 3 glasses in the 2020 Gambero Rosso Italian Wines Guide. Drink: 2021-2026. 342444 13% XD 750 mL $26.95 Score: 90/100. May 22, 2021 Top Rated Red Wine.
