The Lemberger grape can be very versatile and used to make wines that are light and fruity to those that are rich and powerful. In this case it's more the later. Dark cherry in colour with intense black fruit and black spice aromas. Fresh acidity with tannins that can still use some smoothing.

Pair with grilled heavier meat cuts or hard cheese.

This dry red wine from Württemberg, Germany’s fourth largest wine producing region showed attractive, dark berry fruit focused flavours. Supple tannins and an 18-month maturation period in French oak barriques helped to create the concentrated structure and texture found on the medium bodied palate. Crafted in a cooperative, this wine showcases Lemberger, the Württemberg production area’s second most planted red varietal. If you have not tasted Lemberger before, look on the 2016 Collegium Wirtenberg as a tasting opportunity. Enjoy.

Aromas include plum, blackberry, smoke and warm spice. Medium-full bodied, with light tannins, and medium+ acidity. Fruit on the palate is ripe and balanced with acidity, spice and smoke. Enjoy with BBQ ribs.
