Jennifer Havers rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review:

This is a robust and powerful wine with a cult following. Primarily Carmenere (92%) and Petit Vedot (8%), this wine lives up to its reputation with robust and rounded blackberry, plum, and black currant, with some slight herbal notes, as well as hints of mocha and smoke. Full bodied, smooth and powerful, with smooth tannins, rich, ripe fruit on the palalte, and an herbaceous, smoky finish, with more of that mocha hint carrying through. Enjoy with a grilled steak.

Natalie's Review

Montes Purple Angel 2017, Colchagua Valley D.O., Chile: A cult classic, lush and elegant produced from 92% Caménère and 8% Petit Verdot grapes. Opaque in the glass rich with blackberry, plum, blackcurrant, ripe cherry, bell pepper, thyme, sweet spice and silky dark chocolate. Consistently great, this wine has it all. Pair with filet mignon and date night. Drink: 2021-2025. 62364 14.50% XD 750 mL  $95.95 Score: 99/100. April 2, 2021 Top Rated Red Wine. Glorious Game Wine  Full Review

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
