The term OPI is a nickname for Mascota’s highly respected winemaker, Rudolfo ‘Opi” Sandler. With over 30 years of experience, "Opi" is renowned for getting the most of out his grapes and as such, is ranked as one of Argentina’s top 10 winemakers in the country. The fruit for this 100% Chardonnay wine were all hand harvested and underwent partial malo-lactic fermentation, allowing for a creamy texture. The result is a light and refreshing wine with well integrated notes of soft peach, floral, yellow apple, pear, slight pineapple and a little salinity. The medium-short finish displays flavours of spice, cedar and a touch of butter. A fun warm weather sipper that would pair lovely on a backyard patio with assorted hard cheeses.
Craig Haynes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

This aromatic Argentinian chardonnay is an excellent value, offering up an attractive combination of spiced peach, crisp apple and pear. The finish for this summer-patio friendly wine is medium in length.
Melanie Lloyd rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Mineral with creamy notes on the nose along with baked apple and tropical fruit, predominately ripe pineapple. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, buttery, with tart lemon flavours and very subtle oak. I was told the muted oak is a result of using larger barrels. Overall, a good wine at an excellent price point. Pair with fettuccini alfredo or with buttery seafood.

Tasted at the Argentine Special Tasting Evening in Ottawa June 2019

Well made 2017 Chardonnay from Mascota Vineyards, This Argentinean wine will please on a warm summer day, sipping on a patio. Flavors of green apple, pineapple, lime peel, citrus blossom and a touch of vanilla. Enjoy. Tasted at the Argentina wine tasting June 2019.
