Jenny Ratcliffe-Wright CWM rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

An Australian take on a southern Rhone blend, this well known winery does a great job of it. Full of tropical fruit, peach, papaya, and passion fruit. Very forthcoming on the nose, which then translates into a full palate that is rich and exotic and loaded with baked apple. Acid it fairly low, so food pairings should stick to something a little delicate. A small percentage of the wine was in oak for 8 months. Try with a salad Niçoise with freshly grilled tuna. @wrightwineblog

Natalie's Review

d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab Viognier Marsanne 2017, Mclaren Vale, South Australia, Australia: From the McLaren Vale in South Australia, d'Arenberg's The Hermit Crab is a white wine blend of Viognier with about one-third in Marsanne grapes. Simply delicious with ripe stone fruit, white florals, pink grapefruit and a long, subtle spicy finish on the palate. "The Hermit Crab" is so named for the reclusive crab that long-ago were known to reside in South Australia, but also for the French "Hermitage" wine region home to the Marsanne grape. There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
