Carolyn Hetke rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Deep garnet colour in the glass. The nose has a seaweed character that gives way to cedar and mint. Palate has intense black fruit and is hot with alcohol and mature tannins. Serve with hearty beef or lamb dishes. Tasted April 2019. 88
Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Plum, cherry, and red fruit, both fresh and dried, with dried rose petals, oak spice, and toasty and charred oak. Jammy fruits on the palate, sweet at first before the acidity swoops in to restore balance. Good structure, healthy doses of tannin, acid, and body. Oak flavours mild and balanced on the palate and through the finish, more of accents than elements, joined by some sage and savoury herbal undertones. Interesting to see the use of Hungarian and Russian oak alongside French and American. Pour a glass or two to go with herb-crusted roast beef with horseradish cream sauce.

Natalie's Review

Burrowing Owl Merlot 2015, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia V.Q.A., Canada: Richly layered, full-bodied and elegant. Burrowing Owl's Merlot is supple and smooth with dark plums, rich blackberry and ripe red cherry flavours on the palate. Finishes long and smooth with savoury herbs and soft dark spices on the palate. The wine matured 18 months in a variety of oak barrels. Good cellaring candidate - three to five years. Drink: 2019-2027. 351675 14% XD 750 mL  $39.95 Score: 92/100. May 16, 2019 Top Rated Red Wine. Plush Pork Wine  Full Review

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
