Baron Fuente's Grand Millesime 2009 is from estate operated vineyards around Charly sur Marne; the southwestern portion of the Champagne district. 2009 was an incredible year for ripeness in the wine and it is evident here.
This wine has some nice classic aromas of candied pineapple, green apple, pastry dough, and honeysuckle florality. This vintage was predominantly Chardonnay, with Pinot Meunier in second, and Pinot Noir filling out the tiniest portion of the blend.
The flavours are a bit softer than the nose. Cider apple, honey, flakey pastry, and a decently aggressive mousse to the bubbles.
This could last another half decade woth no problem. It would be interesting to buy a few and follow its evolution... Or pair it tonight with a lobster roll and die cut fries.

Baron-Fuenté Grand Millésime Champagne 2009, Champagne A.C., France: This is a dry, rich and creamy vintage Champagne produced by Baron-Fuenté produced with Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir wine grapes sourced from the banks of the Marne Rivers. Grand Millésime is a Brut Vintage (2009) Champagne with a toasty, creamy mousse with ripe pear, peach, vibrant citrus flavours lingering on the palate with clean mineral notes. Chill and enjoy on its own and a perfect pairing with raw oysters. Drink: 2019-2022. 155119 12.50% XD 750 mL $59.95 Score: 92/100. February 27, 2019 Top Rated Sparkling Wine.
