Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A southern French blend made by Boekenhoutskloof, from Franschoek (so fun to say... Or to attempt to say). This wine was matured in French oak and is pretty tasty, considering its modest pricepoint.
It is almost classical in its flavour composition; comparing to under $20 Cotes du Rhones.
Its firmly in the Southern Rhone with Gamey Mourvedre filling out the flavour profile.
Deep ruby/garnet colour with some elevated smoke, cherry, camphor, and dried tarragon. Slightly hot on the nose.
Flavourwise, there are lots of Grenachey fruit (even though it is not here): macerated cherry, with a slightly lingering jamminess. Shiraz-like spicey dried anise, pepper, tomato leaf, and more dried herbs.
Pretty smooth. Lots of tannin and full-bodied fight to it.
Pair this wine with braised pork shoulder or something else with tons of flavour and just a bit of fat.
Fun fact: sometimes small portions of Viognier (a white varietal) can be added to blends with shiraz to fix colour.

Natalie's Review

The Wolftrap Syrah Mourvèdre Viognier 2017, Western Cape W.O., South Africa: Lots of attractive toasty oak and fleshy blackberry on the nose of this full-bodied South African red wine, which also delivers on the palate. This juicy, full-bodied red wonder is pretty darn incredible for the price. Pair it with roast beef or prime rib. Drink: 2018-2022. 292557 14.50% D 750 mL  $14.30 Score: 89/100. There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
