Deep purple brimming out of the glass with a nose of dark berries, cigar, and candied figs. The flavors are rich with lots of jammy dark fruit, smoke, spice, and espresso with some lingering heat on the finish. Tasted January 2018.

Deep inky purple colour, dark plum notes, prune, sugar berries, cherry, candy, fruitcake, stewed red fruits and licorice. Flavours are full and fruit forward, cherry, dried berries, tobacco, classic cigar box notes with a small touch of saltiness. Medium acidity, full body and medium plus finish. Pair with spicy stuffed portobellos.

Smoking value on a big, bold wine.
Blackish-red colour. Big alcohol, bold aromatocs of burnt sugar, morello cherry, smoke, and spent coffee. The flavours are firm, but pure. Save it for a few years and sink your teeth into it with a nice t-bone or lamb burger.
Everybody knows Primitivo has many aliases: Zinfandel, Tribidreg, or Crljenak Kastelanski. However, they don't understand what is going to make their Zin different than Prim. Cali loves their mixtures of different oak and their new-fangled gizmos. Take a trip anywhere in Italy and you'll see what benefit tradition can have on wine quality. Old, neurltral barrels, trellis method, climate, vine age, harvesting techniques etc...Not to say they don't use high tech gizmos too, but great Italian wine regions are careful to preserve their tradition and style. It is hard not to take a chance on a wine like this, when it comes along.
