Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Outstanding value with Lots of citrus, peach and mild tropical fruit on the nose with this one. Sweet undertones due to it's unique smokey quality and mild hints of grass and apple blossoms. Crisp and refreshing with high acidity and a light body. Pair with herbed scallops and mixed salads. 89 points
Deborah Podurgiel rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Sometimes I’m just looking for a fresh white wine, easy on the pocketbook and one I can serve chilled by itself or maybe with some light seafood presentation. In this, I have never been disappointed by Francois Lurton’s les fumées blanches Sauvignon Blanc and the 2016 vintage also does not disappoint. The other aspect I like about these wines is their winery practices of “agriculture raisonnée” which means the use of natural fertilizers in vineyards and no use of herbicides. Grapes for the 2016 vintage were sourced from the cool-climate region of the Gers, nestled between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pyrenees Mountains in the Southwest of France. Here, onshore breezes moderate hot summers and winters rarely go below freezing temperatures. Les fumées blanches is the palest of yellow with green hue in the glass. On the nose there is a light smokiness followed by lime, lemon zest, citrus, light grassy notes and white flower blossoms. On the palate, the wine is dry with a zesty acidity, barely medium-bodied with a mid-palate roundness of white grapefruit, citrus, ripe melon and guava flavours with a medium finish. The wine is fresh, balanced and expressive. This is certainly one to enjoy on its own, or pair with seared Ahi tuna and lightly smoked red pepper relish.
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Mouthwatering, juicy mouthfeel. Boasting tropical fruit, pear, lemongrass. Great acidity. Pairs well with banana leaf baked cod loin infused with citrus. Well balanced. Great price point. Crowd pleasing. Excellent value. 90 points. #bespoketastings

Natalie's Review

J&F Lurton Les Fumées Blanches Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Languedoc, Roussillon VDP, France: This zesty, vibrant southern French Sauvignon Blanc is native to the cool climate region of the Gers, which is just over 150 kilometers south of Bordeaux. The ocean moderates temperatures here, while clay limestone soils provide excellent drainage for the grapes. Aromas of freshly cut grass, lemon zest and lime. Medium-bodied with lots of racy acidity. Pair with seafood and shellfish. Drink: 2016-2018. 472555 11.50% XD 750 mL  $16.95 Score: 89/100. November 14, 2017 Best Value White Wine.  Full Review
