Simon Chen rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This is a good 2nd label wine from Shafer for this vintage, and I like it a lot more than the Hillside. It is well-structured, just enough fruit and velvetiness that coat the initial palate, followed by acidity and tannin. A well-made napa cab that has a shadow of old-world bordeaux in it.
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

Deep purple colour with a brooding, balanced bouquet. Raspberry, plum, prune, leather, vanilla, caramel notes with a hint of skunky earthiness. Flavours are layered and complex featuring roasted red peppers, grilled cherries, smoky vanilla extract, dark chocolate, tobacco, cigarbox and toasty gaminess. High acidity and tannins with a full body and a super long finish. Flavours persist of blood sausage and clove spice. Decadent and delicious. Can age another 15 yrs. Something to experience! Pair with filet mignon, flank steak, cremini mushrooms and fennel. 93 points - November 2017

Natalie's Review

Shafer Vineyards One Point Five Cabernet Sauvignon 2014, Stags Leap District, Napa Valley, California, United States: Stupendously gorgeous, always balanced yet a blockbuster in character and taste. Full-bodied with aromas of fleshy ripe black plums, toasty and some spice. Decant 2 hours and pair with a rare steak. Drink: 2017-2025. 45476 15.30% XD 750 mL  $165.00 Score: 96/100. There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
