This is a fullbodied powerful ripasso with complex aromas of spicy blackberry fruit with prune and a meaty herbal tone. Though strongly flavoured there is some elegance and it is nicely balanced by fine acidity and soft tannin. Good focus with a fruity dry finish. Very good length. Best 2016 to 2018. Try with a steak. Tasted June 2016.
Monte Zovo Sa' Solin Valpolicella Ripasso 2014, Veneto D.O.C., Italy: Full-bodied with black fruit and smoke. Ripe tannins. Produced by Montezovo, this full-bodied red wine has a lovely bite plus rich, ripe blackberries and dark fruit. Just enough toasty oak. Wonderful wine for the price point: full-bodied, juicy, and layers of rich black cherry aromas and flavours. Good acidity, nice balance overall. Made using the Appassimento method of drying the grapes to concentrate the flavour, depth and heft. Decant 1 hour and enjoy with game meats and grilled meats. Drink: 2016-2024. 650713 14% XD 750 mL $19.95 Score: 89/100. September 5, 2017 Best Value Red Wine. Magnificent Meat Pizza Wine Full Review
