Tasted in 2021. This wine still has some lovely fruit, but if you still have this vintage, I would probably drink it soon. Aromas of black cherry, fig jam, and dates, along with powdery graphite and tobacco notes. Medium tannins and medium body, with more dried fruit on the palate. Slightly dry and dusty on the finish with some smoke and tobacco hints. Enjoy with slow roasted pork or beef dishes with fresh herbs.

Tasting the 2005 vintage in 2017 and it is, sadly, over the hill. I have had many fine 18+-year-old Rioja Gran Reservas and that carry a signature finesse and complexity of flavours. The 2005 Beronia is now showing moderate red currant, tobacco and leather aromas with tart cherry, leather, and bitter mint chocolate flavours. The tannins have dropped and the flavours have a short finish and the high acidity is the most prominent feature on the palate. It's losing structure but still a worthy contender for pairing with veal or chicken parmasean. Tasted June 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca

Tasted the 2005 in June 2017. Thin bodied, ruby red. Tart Cherry, moderate alcohol, moderate acidity, low tannins. This wine has passed its peak. Fruit and tannins have dropped out. Having tasted this wine in other vintages at early stage in its lifecycle I was surprised to see this grand reserva having passed its peak at less than 12 years since fruit harvest. Recommend tasting a younger vintage next time. 87 points
