Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Bright cherry aromas with cherry blossom and strawberry accents. Fresh, fruity, and crisp. Drier and lighter in colour than previous vintages. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay augmented by a little appassimento wine. Great for pork roasts or salmon dishes.
Matt Steeves rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Foreign Affair Winery continues to impress with their use of appassimento winemaking in their premium Ontario wines. Amarose is a unique and remarkably delicious new style of wine combining the best features of two of my favourite wines, Italian Amarone and the king of the summer patio, Rose. The 2016 Amarose is a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay with a small component having undergone the famous appassimento (drying of the grapes) to produce even more rich flavour, body, and complexity. The colour is a gorgeous salmon-rose gold that lights up in the summer sun like a fancy diamond. Bursting with sweet peach and strawberry shortcake, cherry, watermelon and dried herbs, the palate strikes the perfect balance of sweet strawberry and refreshing cherry with a long and luscious finish. Enjoy with smoked salmon, grilled fish and seafood, charcuterie, or one of my favourites, while chillin' with a few friends on a patio. A beautiful Rose that's unlike all the others, and at $18.95 it offers exceptional value! Vintages release June 10, 2017. Tasted May 2017. 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Jane Staples rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

A very flavourful rosé made from Pinot Noir and unoaked Chardonnay varietals, using the appassimento (grape-drying) method. Bright copper-pink with lovely cherry aromas and slight spicy touches. The palate gives light cherry, tropical guava, nutmeg and herbal flavours with great acidity. This will be very versatile with a wide variety of foods, from charcuterie to shrimp salad or simply as an aperitif to enjoy while the barbeque warms up. Serve well-chilled.

Natalie's Review

The Foreign Affair Winery Amarosé 2016, Niagara Peninsula, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Appassimento is a method of concentrating flavours by drying grapes, originally in Italy. It's an odd technique on a delicate wine style like rosé. However, this is tasty with fleshy ripe strawberries. A blend of Pinot Noir and unoaked Chardonnay. Pair with planked salmon.
