Monique Sosa rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Rich, robust and favourful! Powerful stewed black fruit, mint, vanilla bean, allspice, clove, and sweet tobacco notes billow from the glass. Flavours are rich and scrumptious with lasting notes of blackberry preserve, minted chocolate and vanilla. This wine upholds incredible potential for aging, estimated to peak at around 205. If drinking now, decant for one hour prior to serving. Enjoy this full-bodied Merlot-Cabernet blend with grilled venison medallions. Tasted May 2017 by @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Jon Steeves rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

Wonderful red blend from Hawkes Bay NZ, single estate Merlot - Cab Sauvignon varietals. Complex, and tightly packed. This beauty will benefit from another year or two to mellow out a bit, or some air time with a decant. High tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus fruit, medium alcohol. Blackberry, baking spice, savoury notes, graphite minerality. Pair with braised red meats. Tasted 2013 vintage in May 2017. 92 points - Bespoke Tastings

Natalie's Review

Te Awa Winery Single Estate Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand: A flagship wine in every sense: for the winery, for the region. The Gimblett Gravels district within Hawkes Bay is a special piece of earth producing extraordinary wines like this wine. Rich depth and concentration yet great finesse and elegance. Aromas of savoury fleshy ripe dark fruit, smoke and dark spice. Pair with a rare steak. Drink: 2015-2022. 14% D 750 mL  $35.00 Score: 95/100. May 3, 2017 Top Rated Red Wine.  Full Review

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
