A small-production Merlot-Cab Sauv blend, with small quantities of Cab Fr and Petit Verdot.
Shows dark cherry, plum, smoky and spicy elements. Decant a couple of hours before serving.

This is the second wine of Ch. La Garde. It's all done in used oak and it's done in a more imminently drinkable style. Drink it soon, but it could stand a little more cellar time (3-5 years).
Light and bright in colour. Bright ruby, with a dark core.
This has a soft dried herb and tobacco note on the nose. Dried cranberry, bramble, and tomato leaf.
Super vibrant on the palate. Medium bodied and delicious. Cranberry, cocoa, rosehip, and a cardamom flavour on the finish.
Have this beauty with something relatively light - charcuterie, or something tomato-based.

Vignobles Dourthe's La Terrace de la Garde may be a second run wine from the Château de la Garde located in Pessac-Léognac, Bordeaux but it is by no means a second rate wine. Fifty percent of the Chateau's relatively small vineyard production is set aside to age in the barrels that were used for the first run production. This creates a wine with a splendid medium ruby robe, a light flowery bouquet of cherries and fresh mint, and a wisp of smoke, which carries through on the palate. The wine is dry and well-structured with gentle tannins that will mellow gracefully with ageing. Score 89. (S.Segard, reviewed April 13, 2017)

La Terrasse De La Garde 2013, Pessac-LĂ©ognan, Bordeaux, France: This is the second wine for the prestigious Chateau La Garde, which takes only 50% of production so that even the second wine is remarkable and certainly of great value. Attractive smoky nose and black fruit and toasty oak on the palate. The vines are planted in gravel soils which creates a more structured wine, rather than a fat one. There are only 2.5 hectares planted for this small production wine. Needs cellar time then decant 1-2 hours and pair with a rare steak. Drink: 2018-2025. 13.50% XD 750 mL  $25.00 Score: 91/100.
