Rebecca Meir-Liebman rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Great expression of the Sangiovese grape variety. Concentrated, intense, and rich in flavour. From the Montesodi vineyard which is known to grow some of the best Sangiovese in Chianti. 2012 was a vintage marked by severe temperatures: with significant snowfalls in February, followed by hot and dry summer days and cool nights. These extreme changes in temperature encouraged gradual ripening, resulting in an elegant, earthy, and lush wine. Enjoy when having a BBQ night with grilled beef and game.
Mymi Thesingingsommelier rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The Frescobaldi family is intimately linked to the history of Tuscany itself. With over 700 years of wine making in the region, the family still artfully crafts wines with the utmost respect for tradition and the land.
This is 100% Sangiovese. Deep ruby red in color with intense aromas of rich melted dark chocolate, dried mint, lavender, black wet earth, plums and dark cacao.
Delicious and mouth-watering. I would even dare to say ethereal! Elegant, earthy, complex and approachable. Wonderful food wine but also rich enough to sip on as the temperature cools down.
Stock a few bottles of this one for yourself and hide from visitors! It might be way too good to share.
My new “péché mignon”.
Alex & Priya rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Priya: A nice big bold red. If you love Californian reds then this is a wine for you. Dusty but fruity and not tannic heavy.

Alex: Aged in Slavonian casks which is a very classic, traditional aging. At once lavish and rustic this one, savoury, elegant, fleshy and powerful with outstanding punch to the fruit and refreshing mineral length. Excellent value at $50 for the style.

Natalie's Review

Marchesi de Frescobaldi Montesodi 2012, Tuscany DOCG, Italy: Rich and savoury Italian red wine that has been aged in large oak casks so as not to impart a heavy oaky flavour, but merely a hint and more texture. This is an elegant wine that has a long cellar life ahead of it. Aromas of wild truffle, violets and spice. Pair with duck and game dishes.
