This unique Mediterranean wine is produced from 100% vermentino grapes. The result is a crisp yet aromatic wine that presents pleasant aromas of pineapple one honey that hide any clues to the acidity waiting to be discovered.

On the palate, the honey stays with some peach flavours, but the significant acidity takes centre stage, despite some sweetness. Considering the foods typical of Sardinia, the acidity should not come as a surprise. This pairs perfectly with fish and shellfish.

This wine finishes with lingering honey and a reminder of the warm Mediterranean sun.

Note that the LCBO incorrectly lists the alcohol content at 12%. Bottle states 14%, and tasting confirms that.

La Cala Sella & Mosca Vermentino 2015, Sardinia D.O.C., Italy: This vibrant northern Italian white wine from Sella & Mosca is made from 100% Vermentino grapes, a Mediterranean varietal that thrives under the Mistral Wind and its moderating influence. Vermentino is a local, ancient grape found in large plantings in Sardinian vineyards. Notes of lime and white peach and Asian white pear. Clean and crisp. It's a pleasant, floral sipper with soft yet enough acidity for seafood, shellfish and chicken dishes. Drink: 2016-2018. 627067 12% D 750 mL $16.95 Score: 89/100.
