Feb 2022 drinking well and still silky and smooth! A pleasant nose with good fruit, subtle lingering hints of vanilla and great dark Ruby colour, with a slight tinge of age shining through. Surprisingly enjoyable!
Andrea Shapiro rated this wine as
88/100 with the following review:
Such an abundance of layered aromas. Sweet leathery vanilla cigar, complimented with vanilla, smoky black cherries and earthy cedar roasted paprika. Bright fruit on the palate echoed by the profiled smoky vanilla notes with delicious tones of plum, cherry and brown sugar. Medium plus body, tannin and acidity with a long finish ending in rich blackberry, vanilla and smoke notes that carry through. Silky and velvety smooth. A few bottles of these could easily disappear! 88 points tasted November 2016
Cora Beaulieu rated this wine as
90/100 with the following review:
Medium Ruby color. Nose of blueberry, blackberry, kirsch, red cherry, vanilla, toffee, and chocolate. With pronounced aromas of wood shavings and a hint of smoke in the background. This wine deserves a little air time - open for at least 20-30 minutes before serving. On the palate this is a dry wine with medium (-) body. Tannins are firm. Flavors of cherry, coffee, chocolate, smoke, and burnt wood dominate this slightly over-oaked wine. Pleasing, medium-long mocha and coffee finish. Perfect for BBQ season with a big juicy steak. We had it with pulled pork and it tasted yummie.

Aromatic with black currants, dark berries, raspberry, chocolate, leather, vanilla with a hint of coffee. Full bodied, smooth and well balanced. Long berry, plum finish with a bit of sweetness at the end. Great value.
Lovely with Blue cheese, aged cheddar.

A perennial favourite featuring black and red briar, plum skin, cigar tobacco, warm spice and a touch of herb. There is some pepper here as well as pronounced crushed rock on the finish. 91 Points. (www.ottawawinejournal.com)

Sweet dark berry, spice , oak and boozy aromas resulting from this old vine, low yield wine. This garnacha (Grenache) is oh so smoot, balancedh, and full bodied. Another great Spanish wine for good value. 15% alcohol. I paired this with 4 year old cheddar. Mmmm.
Colin McKone rated this wine as
90/100 with the following review:
Made from 100% Spanish garnacha grapes, this wine is dark ruby in colour with aromas of plum, raspberry, tobacco, strawberry jam, mint, dark chocolate and vanilla. The alcohol, acidity and tannins are well balanced. It is full bodied with lots of raspberry, leather and dark chocolate flavour and has a long finish. This will pair well with grilled red meats and strong firm cheeses.

84/100 with the following review:
Like drinking raspberry jam…
Presentation: Clean, minimalist, yet fun and artistic
Appearance: Medium-to-dark ruby
Nose: Red fruit (cherries, strawberries), vanilla, oak
Taste: Dry-to-off dry, high tannins, high acidity, full bodied, with notes of sour cherries, raspberry jam, leather, earth, toastiness
Finish: medium cherry and alcohol finish
Overall impression: A fruit forward wine, like drinking raspberry jam, but with noticeable alcohol. Would go well with strong flavoured foods like old or blue cheese and grilled meats
Value: 2.5/5

Borsao ‘Tres Picos’ Garnacha 2014
Do Campo de Borja $19.95 (273748) 15.0% alcohol
Produced from fruit of low-yielding old vines, this opaque, ruby-hued Wine of the Month packs a punch of warm, jammy black fruit infused with notes of sweet baking spice, vanilla and tantalizing earthy notes. Dry and velvety, imbued with bushels of flavourful red and black berry fruit and warmth of tangy spice and cracked pepper, it shows balance, supple tannins, clean acidity and well-integrated oak aging. Long and warm through the finish, you’ll enjoy this great value with classic paella. (Susan Desjardins)

An appetizing nose of dark cherries and vanilla. Bright fruity palate gives lots of dark berries, plums, vanilla, mocha and leather. Dry with great acidity and a long dark berry finish. Yum!

Borsao Tres Picos Grenache 2014, Campo de Borja D.O., Spain: This winery is located south of Rioja and is comprised of 100% Garnacha grapes. The Garnacha grapes for this wine grow on old vines, which provides additional concentration and flavour. Great structure. Lots of mocha and dark chocolate aromas on the nose that are then flooded with lusciously ripe black fruit on the palate. Full-bodied and smooth. A rich darkly hued colour in the glass. A long, satisfying finish. Pair with grilled meats. The 2013 vintage of the Tres Picos offers solid value. Drink: 2016-2021. 273748 15% D 750 mL $19.95 Score: 92/100.
