Alpha Box & Dice are well known for their funky, nothing-normal, unique wines and the Wightmare Chardonnay is another wine that their winemaker got to do whatever he wanted to when crafting this bread 'n butter white wine. From McLaren Vale, South Australia, this Chardonnay shows crisp green and sweet yellow apples, with a polished palate leading to a refreshing tropical fruit sherbert finish. Enjoy with lemon chicken, peaches and cream corn, or grilled seafood. Tasted May 2016. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Trevor Sabourin rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This is very tasty, fresh, and clean unoaked chardonnay. It is filled with pineapple, mango, and citrus on both the nose and palate. Pair with light seafood dishes, or enjoy on its own during the summer.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

An unoaked dry Chardonnay from McLaren Vale, South Australia. A pretty nose shows white florals, lemon and green apple, then the palate reveals fresh coconut, tropical fruit and lime. Tasty and refreshing.

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Not many have seen a Mclaren Vale Chardonnay. As a Chardonnay, it shares little varietal character with other common regions. Imagine Chardonnay grown in the south of France (like Bellet or Pays D'Oc Viognier). Somehow, I feel AB&D care little about fitting into a categorical style of Chardonnay - just enjoy this as a ripe and refreshing white best enjoyed in its youth.
Electric neon lemon colouration.
The aromas hint at minerality. Lots of lemon peel and florality. Asian pear and vanilla remind you its a chard. The aromas could masquerade as something like Pinot Blanc or Torrontes - very aromatic
Crunchy orchard fruit, layered over a clotted creaminess coming from controlled malolactic fermentation. Lemon juice, yellow-fleshed apple, fruit cocktail, and guava.
Delicious and delicate. It's a good wine for sun-worshippers enjoying a BBQ.
Mary Anne van Gaal rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

The fun label on this unoaked Chardonnay foreshadows a happy wine. Aromas of green apples and honey and sweet flavours of peach. It is a perfect sangria wine.
