Cigare Volant gets its name from the ovscure decree in Chateauneuf du Pape forbidding UFOs to land within the appellation proper.
Aromatic Roussanne and generous Grenache Gris are declared in this blend, but there is also Picpoul (the lip-stinger) in it as well. That makes a huge difference in the balance and overall unique coolness of this wine.
Pale straw colour - very delicate. The aromas are wonderfully crisp. Sweet-pea, tarragon, tart mac apple, barbecued lemon, lime, sea salt, guava, honeysuckle.
Less energetic on the palate, but still very satisfying. Lemon and lime juice, kiwi, lemongrass, dill, tarragon, vanilla, and creme fraiche.
As cool and unique as it is successful in its interpretation of Rhone varietals. Pair it with grilled swordfish and lemon.
