An elegant, full-bodied Canoe Ridge Estate Chardonnay, crafted with the fruit grown on high altitude vineyards. Aromas and flavours of crisp green apples, pears and zesty citrus. Fresh and vibrant palate with luxurious, buttery mouthfeel and lingering finish. Food-friendly and versatile. Perfect pairing with slowly roasted lemon-herb chicken. Tasted June 2017. 90/100 with the following review:
Sensible, reserved Chardonnay made in a very cool (only metaphorically speaking) region. This wine was barrel fermented with minimal lees contact (dead yeast cells), to preserve it's fruit character. High daytime temperatures, cool nights, and high altitudes means this wine treads a great balance between freshness and body. Chateau Ste. Michelle succeed, here, in maintaining their classical style of winemaking, with a new world twist.
It has a soft, lemon-yellow colour that grows very pale towards the rim.
Aromatically, it has some greate flake pastry aromas, with some baled apple, honeysuckle, lemon juice, and pear.
On the palate, look for some of the nice leesy flavours that build out the body (more pastry dough and butter). There's a lot of fresh fruit, since it's so young. Banana, pineapple, golden apple, and lemon candy.
Don't keep it too long, or you'll miss out on all of the freshnesss this wine delivers. Otherwise, it could keep three to five years.
Pair it withlobster rolls, stuffed crab mushrooms, and goose liver pate.

Emulating tradition, yet still fresh and easy drinking. Aromas are mild while the palate shows plenty of character. Dominant notes include melon, apricot, citrus zest and steely/smoky minerality. This Chardonnay is well-rounded with a creamy mouthfeel. moderate acidity and long zesty finish. Tasted July 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca

Fresh and vibrant, with pienapple, kiwi, and other tropical fruits on the nose. Refined with sweet tropical fruit, vanilla, and spice persisting on the soft finish. Tasted June 2016. 89 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
Melanie Aubert rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
This chardonnay has very subtle aromas of lime, minerality and a hint of butter from sur lie aging. The CSM winemaker uses more old-world (namely Burgundian) winemaking techniques, which means less oak influence. Rather than a round mouthfeel, it is bright and acidic, and tastes of green apple and pear. As the wine warms up, the oak nuances start to come out, with sweet spice, butterscotch, and toasted qualities. Perfect for roasted chicken.

Cherie Cole rated this wine as
89/100 with the following review:
This Chardonnay is more traditional in style with a flavour profile consisting of baked, spiced apples, caramel and vanilla with a lemon-lime finish. Barrel fermented with battonage every three weeks. Freshness in the acidity with silky body. This wine would pair well with grilled chicken or turkey burgers. Tasted June, 2016.

Fruity – peach, green grape, grapefruit with a slight aroma of vanilla and smoke, settling to a buttered toffee finish.
Pair with cacio e pepe.

Vanilla, toasted coconut, pineapple and other tropical fruits. This is a typical new world oaked style of chardonnary but not overwhelming. The creamy texture on the palate is balanced with a fruit acidity. I would drink this wine on its own, or with a cheese and fruit plate,

Bursting with tropical fruit notes. Oily, fruity and buttery. Velvet finish, long and fruity.
Alex & Priya rated this wine as
88/100 with the following review:
Priya: Now this is my kinda wine. Fresh and slightly effervescent with a touch of sweetness but not too much. The bubbly nature offsets the fruit so it's a wine I could easily enjoy a few glasses of, though I'd probably drink this before or after a meal rather than as a pairing. 89pts
Alex: Interesting style, showing of butter and vanilla, ripe orchard fruit and some pineapple. the oak is certainly there though in balance, the palate is more vibrant than you'd expect. plush, creamy texture, good concentration, alcohol in check. A touch of oak on the finish, but overall a good Chard. 87pts

I'm not a fan of over-oaked chardonnay so this fit the bill. Tropical notes of white stone fruit. Vanilla and butter but not overpowering. Medium body with a long fruit finish.
Gwen Barton rated this wine as

Nose of peaches and pears with soft toast ones. Bright acidity and lingering flavours of tropical fruit, brioche and subtle spice. Nice complexity and integration of fruit and oak. Very nice with or without food.
Jacky Blisson rated this wine as

Pale straw. Intense, yet fairly simple nose of pear drops and floral notes. Juicy and vibrant on the palate, with a linear structure and a fairly short, somewhat cloying finish.
Jane Staples rated this wine as

Lovely caramel and brioche nose, followed by more of same on palate along with lemon and slight oak. Smooth, full-bodied, buttery mouthfeel. Very yummy!

Chateau Ste. Michelle Chardonnay 2014, Columbia Valley, Washington State, United States: This vines for this lovely Washington Chardonnay are planted at 200 feet above sea level which is ideal for achieving a silky texture from the grapes rather than an oak barrel. Rich and full-bodied with luscious layers of fleshy ripe peach, pear and butterscotch. This Washington Chardonnay has great finesse and styling: French spirit with Washington DNA. It was barrel fermented without a lot of lees stirring to preserve it's zesty character. Finishes with apple and citrus notes. Pair with roast chicken or veal.
