Points for typicity here as nothing is a surprise in this classic Chianti Riserva. Deep ruby colour with familiar aromas and flavours of dark cherry, fresh plum, baking spices, leather and dried herbs. Refreshing acidity and a fair amount of tongue coating tannins. Suggest decanting at least 2 hours prior to enjoyment. Enjoy over the next 8-10 years. Pair with meat lovers pizza, game, Italian sausage pizza or pasta , Italian meat platter.

Barone Ricasoli Rocca Guicciarda Riserva Chianti Classico 2012, Tuscany D.O.C.G., Italy: The 2012 vintage was a strong though you'll want to decant this baby 1-2 hours before serving. Even better leave it in the cellar for a few more years at least. A truly classic Chianti in all senses, from signature aromas of dark fruit, sun-dried tomato and dried herbs, to mouth-watering acidity for a wide range of dishes from pasta in tomato sauce to spicy sausages.
