In 2000, 2005 and 2010, even the lesser-known appellations in Bordeaux were producing blockbuster wines. This one is no different, with ripe aromas of sweet red cherry and black raspberry liqueur combine with toasty oak and powerful, albeit still grippy tannins. The 14.5% alcohol is surprisingly well-balanced by the structure and concentration of the wine. Drink this in a few years.

The 2010 vintage shows deep and dense garnet with a ruby hue. This is a value find yielding from a 15th century Bordeaux vineyard from Appellation Montagne Saint-Emillion Controllee and labelled as 14.5% ABV. Decanted for several hours revealing deeply concentrated primary aromatics of dark chocolate, ripe fig, anise, blackberry and secondary notes of dried prune, dried thyme, and a hint of lavender and vanilla. This wine is almost completely Merlot varietal grown on a chalky clay hillside. This wine is elegant, well integrated, and very well balanced with a Juicy, mouthwatering, dry essence featuring medium plus tannins, medium acidity, medium plus fruit. Pairing with AAA angus roast beef, vegan roasted beet couscous, vegetarian roasted vegetable chickpea salad or roast chicken with fig compote. Enjoy 2015-2022 based on your preference for tannic presence.

Fantastic dried fig, milk chocolate, cedar box. Great acidity. Perfect wine for pairing with caramelized vegetables or peppery grilled meat.

Ripe and fruity right bank Bordeaux. Aromas are pretty light with mostly raspberry and cherry notes. Flavours are similar to the nose with a grippy mouthfeel, medium (+) acidity and, oddly, medium-light body for a right bank Bordeaux. Finish is medium-long and grippy.

Deep colour with lots of extraction. Buckets full of red and black fruit on the nose with some fresh and dried herb. Palate is medium -bodied with floral and pepper and warm medicinal alcohol finish. Some grainy tannins and medium+ acidity. Some time in the cellar will reward the drinker.

Chateau Teyssier plants 85 per cent Merlot and 15 per cent Cabernet Franc.

Vanilla, dark cherry, raspberry and ripe blackberry on the nose with some earthy and tobacco notes.

Flavours of dark cherry, blackberry and raspberry.

High acidity with medium tannins. This wine is hot, and at 14.5 per cent you can really taste the lingering alcohol.
