An engaging Canadian sparkling wine from Niagara-on-the-Lake with many citrus and traditional brioche notes that dance on the on the nose - very reminiscent to Champagne. Crisp with medium buoyant bubbles. Flavours show apple, pear fruit with a light and juicy finish with hints of minerals. Dry and well made in the traditional method from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Outstanding value. A welcome refreshment for a celebration or to pair with light canapes.

Baked biscuit on the nose with a palate that explodes with lemon rind and apple flavors. Small consistent bubbles and great acidity throughout. Perfect to toast a special occasion or pair with fresh oysters. Tasted April 2019 at Taste Ontario Ottawa.

Lovely wine and great value, especially for a traditional method sparkling. Aromas of golden apple, pear, and slightly biscuity notes. Beautiful crisp bubbles, bright acidity, and a lovely citrus zest on the palate. Enjoy with oysters or any appetizers.

This is a great example of a Canadian sparkling wine. If you think about it, Canada’s cool climate is not all that different from Champagne’s. It’s made the same way Champagne is – Méthode Traditionelle – which means the second fermentation was created in each one of the bottles, rather than in a big tank. A cuvée of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, it has been aged on the lees – the dead yeast left behind after fermentation – for two to three years before disgorging – the removal of the sediment (the lees) – after fermentation. On the palate find, beautiful apple, pear and apricot notes with toastiness, brioche, nuttiness and a soft, fine mousse.

In June 2017, tasted a magnum of traditional Method non-vintage which was disgorged in 1993. Lively, brilliant, yeasty, golden and biscuity with zesty citrus notes. Wonderful complexity, great acidity. Paired well with shrimp ceviche. 91 points.

Chateau des Charmes' non-vintage Brut traditional method sparkling wine, from the Niagara region in Ontario, is not only super tasty and affordable ($13.95 a half bottle, which is a fraction of what a similar size bottle of Champagne costs) but this demi-bouteille format is the perfect size when you're just looking for a nice glass or two of bubbly at the end of the day, or perhaps to kick-off a romantic meal or date night before you take that taxi downtown. Produced with similar expert craftmanship as Champagne is in France, this Brut is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that shows expressive Russet apples and freshly baked almond croissant on the nose and palate. A refreshing and creamy mousse provides great texture making this wine ideally suited for pairing with a wide range of foods from appetizers to five course meals. Enjoy this Spring with oysters on the half shell and just about anything you can imagine during your Sunday morning brunch. Tasted March 2017. 90 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

This wine is a good value in a traditionally made sparkling. if you manage to make it to a Chateau des Charmes outlet, pre cellared limited releases of this and other rarities are usually available. Charmes has one of the most extensive cellars in Niagara.
This wine is often available in magnums.
A typical blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir aged for roughly two years on its lees. This wine does not declare a vintage. It relies on a consistent house style, though I have noticed some bottle variation.
Aromas of baked apple and brown kitchen spices on better examples. Flavours of citrus and green pear, coupled with tea biscuit doughiness.

Château des Charmes Brut Sparkling White, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: This non-vintage dated Niagara sparkling wine uses the traditional method of the second fermentation in the bottle and is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. The wine rests sur lie (on its lees) for two to three years. Notes of green apple, lime zest and freshly baked bread. Crisp and refreshing. Pair with seafood.
