The Beringer Merlot 2011 is a Merlot lover’s dream. This full bodied wine features aromas and flavours of plum, cherry, vanilla and spice. Very smooth wine that would pair well with a nice steak. Tasted on April 14, 2015 (90/100)

Folks, this vino has backbone. The tannins are young and chewy! When you get over that, you'll find ripe red and black berry fruit, some smoke, some pepper, vanilla and some cedar in your glass. Acidity is well balanced with a long grippy, smoky, plummy, oaky finish. Its young and it will leave a nice purple stain on your teeth for a few hours.
Impatient? - At lease decant the morning of the eve you plan to drink it! And pair it with a really fatty flame grilled rib-eye.
Patient Cellar Keeper? - I bet you can enjoy this wine right through to whatever 20th anniversary you wish to commemorate.

Bring on the BBQ! This deep ruby Merlot is made with grapes from three different locations in the Napa valley which contributes to its uniqueness. Aromas of chocolate caramel and plum are striking, with an interesting palate of berry, plum, spice and chocolate.

Subtle aromas of plum jam on the nose, followed by a palate showing dark plums, vanilla, baking spice, slight dried herbs and dark chocolate-delicious! Well-structured with long spiced dark fruit finish. This Merlot would be wonderful with roast wild boar and a spicy mustard.

Merlot in California took a huge hit from the movie "Sideways" and would "make a great marketing case study" suggests Beringer chief winemaker Laurie Hook. She also suggests that some of the bad press may have been earned. Merlot in California was most likely planted where it shouldn't and it took on herbal notes that weren't complimentary.
This California Merlot has lots of red fruit, dark cherry, cigar box, bakers chocolate, cloves and smoked wood. Nothing green to report here. Tannins are supple and there's a lingering finish of dark fruit and vanilla extract. Acidity keeps everything balanced and opens the palate for more! This Merlot can handle finer cuts of beef or great Canadian BBQ fare.

Beringer’s Merlot is a great example of why we should all enjoy more Merlot! Beautifully balanced, this is a fine expression of a well structured Napa Merlot. Tasted April 2015. 92 points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca

This Merlot is fuller bodied than expected and rich. Aromas of jammy ripe fruit, dried herbs, smoke and a bit of dark chocolate are evident. Tannins and smooth and velvety. I would enjoy this with BBQ Pork tenderloin or maybe ribs.

Beringer Merlot 2011, Napa Valley, California, United States: Toasty oak with tasty dark chocolate and black plum aromas and flavours in this iconic Californian red wine. Fairly smooth though decanting for 2 hours will help. Soul soothing and heart quickening. Finishes with black plum and dark spice. Concentrated, deep and satisfying. Pair with roast beef.
