Heather Wall rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Deep ruby colour with aromas and flavours of ripe red berries and fruit, chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon, floral, cedar and toast. Tannins are evident but not over powering. This is a medium+ bodied Merlot that could be your everyday red or impress a host/hostess. Very nice sipper. Creeps just above that $20 sweet spot but worth the price.

Jane Staples rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

J. Lohr makes memorable wines. Los Osos Merlot from Paso Robles, California has a fragrant nose with ripe red cherries, berries and vanilla. Flavours of red and dark berries, vanilla, baking spices, cloves and cedar create a delicious palate, with a dry, satiny, very harmonious mouthfeel and a long spicy red berry finish.

Natalie's Review

J. Lohr Los Osos Merlot 2012, Paso Robles, California, United States: Mocha with some dark chocolate on the nose from toasty oak aging. Lots of fleshy ripe black plums on the palate. Full-bodied and smooth. This wine was aged for a year in oak barrels, and offers plush depths of flavour. Perfect for potluck gatherings. This full-bodied red wine pairs well with lamb. There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
