This is a terrific bargain for fans of distinctive, savoury, old world reds. This is like classic nebbiolo or similar with its dusty, herbal flavours and firm tannins-acids. An arch classic xynomavro with ample character and complexity all around. Juicy and succulent - really fine stuff here, the best yet from Boutari, and given the experience I've had with older bottles from Boutari, this should easily last until the late '20s. Tasted May 2014.
Jane Staples rated this wine as 87/100 with the following review:

Lots of ripe cassis on nose, with cassis, spice and oak on palate. Med cassis finish.

Natalie's Review

Boutari Grande Reserve Xinomavro 2008, Naoussa, Greece: Boutari was founded in Naoussa region of Greece back in 1879. This is the Xinomavro grape that makes this particular wine. Serve at 18 degrees with meats and cheeses. Juicy with attractive mouth-watering acidity with savoury notes of dried herbs and red and black fruit. Elegant wine for many dishes. Really worth trying. Great price. Some spice and smoke on the finish. Drink: 2013-2016. 114958 12.50% XD 750 mL  $16.95 Score: 90/100. November 14, 2015 Best Value Red Wine. Best Beef Wine  Full Review

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
