The color is a budding straw-gold. Powerful and concentrated aromas of butterscotch, Crème Brulee, mandarin, baked pineapple, more tropical fruits, ripe stone fruits (peach, apricot, nectarine.) In addition, complex notes of honey and wood smoke. It's mid-weight, quite plump and the palate is bursting with heaps of citrus flavors, tropical fruits, honey and a hint of oak. An amazingly long finish with lingering minerality, fruit and toasted oak notes. This one is a keeper.

Pale straw colour and declared 14% ABV, the 2011 vintage Chardonnay is a wonderful expression of the varietal and Twenty Mile Bench VQA terroir. Aromatics of butterscotch, peach, tropical fruit, wet stone minerality and Asian pear. This wine is designed to enjoy with butter-drenched lobster tail or bacon wrapped scallops. Tasted Jan 2016.

A gorgeous cool-climate Chardonnay from one of Ontario's renowned producers, Le Clos Jordanne. Blending the best characteristics of some of the world's most famous Chardonnay regions, Le Grand Clos seems to have a bit of California and Burgundy integrated into this proudly Ontario wine. Orchard fruit, vanilla, minerality and just the right touch of oak, produces a fine Chardonnay with great flavour concentration, texture, and balance. Enjoy with roasted poultry or grilled fish. A very lovely Chardonnay. Aromas are well balanced between citrus and tropical fruit, oak, and vanilla, with some honey blossom. Palate flavours are similar and balanced with a long finish. This is very food friendly, and would be perfect with a range of dishes, anything from roast chicken to lobster.

The glass brims over with the scent of burnt oak, vanilla bean, stone fruit and white floral. It is well balanced with rich flavors of toasted vanilla bean and floral and peach notes on the palate. This is a beautifully made Niagara wine, derivative of the limestone rich soil and cool climate. Drink now or cellar 4-5 years. Great with lobster.

Presentation: Distinctive yet classic.
Appearance: Light yellow
Nose: Light, a little perfume, a little popcorn
Taste: Light, toffee notes emerge.
Finish: Toffee.
Overall impression: An okay Chardonnay. I admit I’m struggling to write a review for this one.

Complex nose, balanced nose. You get white peach, you get honey, you get vanilla bean. The complexity is confirmed in the mouth. It is very well made and build to last. This wine is like an onion! There is nice acidity, plenty of fruit and the oak is there somewhere holding everything together and it is very long but not flashy. Well worth the price. I would compare it easily to wines of the village appellation Meursault. You can keep it or drink it now. But if you drink it now, pair it with something lush like lobster.

This wine is worthy of collecting, try one now and keep one to age over the next 3-5 years. Rich, layered aromas of tropical fruit, stone fruit, oak, with white floral and spicy notes. This wine show LCJ's artistry at it's highest level. A touch more crispness ensures this Chardonnay can do what I imagine the winery intended for it - to be aged. A more nervy Chardonnay than their Claystone or Village wines, it has beautiful clean new oak to provide a kiss of wood. My palate loved this wine but my heart wished I had cellared it 'til 2019.

Medium straw colour with some slight green tinges. Generous aromas of peaches and apricots accented by hints of grapefruit pleasant oak-derived spices and a touch of minerality (likely from the abundance of limestone in the vineyard). This full bodied beauty caresses the palate with waves of flavour starting with brisk citrus and then a mid-palate eruption of stone fruit as well as a classic buttery note and a hint of pineapple. Great acidity and a lingering finish.

I would marry this lovely wine with a spatchcocked lemon chicken and wild rice.

Le Grand Clos, Le Clos Jordanne's "Grand Cru" of Niagara is created exclusively from the best parcels of land. The medium lemon colour in the glass foreshadows the rich and full-bodied experience on the nose and palate. Ripe Niagara tree fruit, honey, toffee,white blossoms,herbs, citrus, toast, nuts,earthy, wet cedar, melon, minerality(indicactive of the limestone soil.) Smooth and creamy mouthfeel coupled with an extended length with cleansing finish. This is one for the wine lover on your list. Easily cellar worthy but enjoyed now.

Le Clos Jordanne Le Grand Clos Chardonnay 2011, Niagara Peninsula, Twenty Mile Bench, Ontario V.Q.A., Canada: Rich, complex and layered Niagara Chardonnay from a master. Ripe peach and Asian pear with toasted almond. Ultra dry with a judicious weave of oak. Nicely balanced in all dimensions, especially the acidity for a wide range of dishes. This is the winery's flagship white wine. The Chardonnay grapes for Le Grand Clos are sourced from the estate's premium vineyards that has the best sunlight exposure and water drainage. Those unique conditions are expressed in the glass, especially with the challenging 2011 vintage. Burgundian in style but Niagara by heart, this gorgeous Chardonnay will do well in the cellar, but it's also ready to enjoy now with roast turkey.
