Claria Calderone rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

The evening called for something different and moody, Apothic Dark it is. I must admit it was pleasant. After a sense to the nose, the wines aroma was coffe-like with a dash of fruitiness. One sip and you know right away its a blend of blackberries and blueberries blended with some rich chocolate possibly? A bit of a dessert in wine type sense. Dark and rich purple in color, its a perfect choice for a Valentines day dinner over a fire place, or a specialty to break out and compliment a lamb dish.
I was skeptical but now I'm not, as it may not be an every day wine, but its a special day kinda wine.

Natalie's Review

Apothic Dark 2013, California, United States: Liquid fudge, coffee dark roast: a very sweet wine that could almost be consumed for dessert. Highly confected; this reminds me of a marketing-driven "concept wine" that makes a bridge to wine for Coca Cola drinkers. Drink: 2013-2015. 392654 13.50% M 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 87/100. The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
