Robert Janiga rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This ruby and garnet Cotes du Rhone offers up intense aromas of ripe blackberries, black raspberries and blueberries. As it opens up, further aromas emerge like anise, black pepper, dried flowers and a faint dusting of pancetta. It packs quite a punch on the palate too. Lots of ripe fruit flavours and a savoury long finish. It has some good acidity and the tannins are pronounced but not offensive. This wine would go well with hearty winter dishes like beef or lamb stew, as well as grilled steak done rare. It can be enjoyed now or over the next three to four years where the fruit will start to lessen and more leathery and forest-like characteristics emerge. Given that it is only $14.95 a bottle at the LCBO, the QPR on this is quite high.

Natalie's Review

Ferraton Père & Fils Samorens 2012, Côtes Du Rhône A.C., France: Cedary with ripe fleshy dark berry aromas. Love this style of Rhone! It’s so interesting and lip-smacking delicious with each sip; you don’t tire of it. It also pairs with many hearty meat dishes. Amazing value and complexity here. Finishes with savoury notes of bacon, dried herbs and cedar forest. Decant for 1-2 hours and enjoy with pepperoni pizza, especially at this phenomenal price. Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
