Greg Hughes rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

This specific region has a reputation for being heavily structured and firm. It needs time to show its quality. This bottle was bought in 2012, opened in 2016, and decanted gently.
Red, like red-eye gravy. Dark crimson towards the centre, with moderate bricking.
It has a ton of florality. Roses, petunia, rooibos, earth, cocoa mulch, sour cherries, cigar smoke, and truffle.
the flavours have eased off a lot. There are a lot of kitchen spices that emerge through the tannic backbone that has eased off. Morello cherry, cocoa, raspberry, clove, carob, and tea leaves. Really suave and rustic. Lots of minerality from the volcanic nature of the soil that made it.
Pair it with duck done any which way. It would be a smart match for ossobuco too.

Natalie's Review

Fontanafredda Serralunga D'alba Barolo 2008, Piedmont D.O.C.G., Italy: The deft hand of the new management of this esteemed winery is at work here: the quality across the board of Fontanafredda wines continue to improve every year. This DOCG wine is full-bodied, balanced and stunning. Made from the Nebbiolo grape, this is simply classic Piedmont style. Dark fruit, truffles, violets and espresso. Watch this winery as it climbs every higher peaks of pleasure. Decant 2 hours. Drink: 2015-2021. 943290 14% XD 750 mL  $51.95 Score: 93/100. May 10, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine. The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
