Toto, I don't think we're in Beaujolais anymore! This is a unique Gamay from the cool climate of Prince Edward County. It's very tart - like barely ripened raspberries and red currants - and has a light herbal quality that reminds me vaguely of oil of oregano. These assertive flavours, coupled with the higher alcohol content, bright acidity, and smooth tannins, make it a better pairing for food than I personally find Gamay traditionally. Tonight we had honey garlic sausage with mashed sweet potatoes and fresh parsley and it was a great match! Note: This new Estate line from the winery is replacing the Trumpour's Mill line, so if you were a fan of those wines and are missing them, then you'll find yourself at home with these offerings.
